Aging & In-Home Services Hosts Successful Annual Meeting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Last week, Aging and In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana, Inc. (AIHS) celebrated its 35th anniversary with more than 300 people at the agency’s annual meeting and awards ceremony. At the event, AIHS unveiled its newly redesigned agency logo and presented Communities for a Lifetime Awards of Excellence.

The Awards of Excellence were presented to:

  • Lt. Governor Becky Skillman – for her commitment to the Golden Hoosier Award program and to all Indiana residents;

  • Mayor Tom Henry – for his leadership and commitment to ensuring that Fort Wayne continues to grow as a community that values and supports all of its citizens;

  • Mike Packnett of Parkview Health System – for his commitment to a regional vision of accessible health care; and

  • Dr. Wendy Robinson, superintendent of Fort Wayne Community Schools – for her leadership in the development of a vital Continuing Education & Neighborhood Connection program.

In addition, keynote speaker Gail Sheehy, New York Times bestselling author and journalist, gave a touching presentation on caregiving. Sheehy’s latest book is titled, “Passages in Caregiving: Turning Chaos into Confidence.”

According to AIHS president, Connie Benton Wolfe, the event was a great success. “It was wonderful to see everyone come together and celebrate the great things that are happening in our communities,” she said. “From our leaders and trailblazers to the family caregivers in our community, and everyone in between, this region really is striving to help all individuals live independently.”
